10 months!

Little Dude is now 10 months old. Only 2 months until his big birthday extravaganza! He has a new trick that he started doing yesterday. We are always making animal sounds. The lion says ROOOAR. The monkey says OOO-AAA. The dog says WOOF WOOF. The kitty says MEEEEOW. The bird says TWEET TWEET. The bird has always been his favorite. But I think the lion has just won him over. Now when you say "The lion says..." Little Dude quickly helps you out with a "GRRRRR". He has been growling all the time since he learned how to do it. I think it's cute, but I'm pretty sure everyone else in the grocery store doesn't like hearing him growling constantly. Hah!

First Baseball Game

Little Dude got to go to his first baseball game this past weekend with mommy! While the daddy was out of town, Mommy & some of her friends went to a Rangers game and took Little Dude along for the ride. He still had his rash, so I was a little disappointed that he has red spots in all of the pictures. However, he had a great time! He was well behaved and enjoyed all of the attention other people gave him. He liked it so much that his Nana & Poppers bought tickets for us to all go again soon!

Here's Little Dude ready to go to the game (minus his baseball cap)

Having so much fun!

Intently watching the game

Thankfully the rash is pretty much gone at this point. No more leopard baby here!

What can go wrong...

What can go wrong, will go wrong. Or something like that. I had grand plans today to do a big photo project with the Little Dude. He went to bed early last night (around 8pm) and by 9:30am, he still wasn't up. He is usually talking and ready to get up by 8:30am. I crept into his room as he was waking up to snap some pictures. I thought he was in pain from teething because he cried out a few times in the middle of the night. He was awake when I went in there, but was still laying in bed sucking his thumb. I snapped a few pictures and he slowly got up. Normally, he jumps up (or is already up) when I walk in the room. After I took a few pictures, I put the camera down and walked over to get him.

Since I didn't have the camera in front of my face, I began to notice that there was something wrong. I know my child isn't normally a leopard!

I called out for the daddy to come in and we took Little Dude's temperature. It was 102.2! He had little red spots all over his body. I quickly called the doctor and thought, "Great. He must have the chicken pox". By the time we saw the doctor, the fever was down to 99.6 but the rash was out in force even more so than in the picture. Turns out he has a virus which caused the rash. *whew* Still not pleasant and the poor guy feels awful, but at least it isn't the chicken pox! Hopefully he will be feeling better soon!

Mother's Day

We had such a nice day on Sunday celebrating my first Mother's Day. Little Dude got me a very nice present (with a little help from Daddy). We had a lazy day, which was very nice! We went out for a simple lunch and stopped by Gabs & Boomps' house for a little while. The rest of the day was spent being lazy at home.

Little Dude made this card for all of his grandmas, great-grandmas, great-great grandmas & aunt. Mommy only had to help a little ;)
Here is a picture of me & Little Dude on Mother's Day!

Today, Little Dude had his appointment with the allergist. They confirmed that he is allergic to eggs. The doctor said no more eggs in any form. Looks like I will be learning how to bake things without using eggs! Thankfully, 90% of kids outgrow this allergy by the time they are 5 years old. We have an epi pen and were told that the biggest key to his allergy is prevention. Hopefully we won't have to use the pen, but I'm glad we have it just in case!

More Firsts...

Little Dude has had a few more firsts this weekend and week.

First allergic reaction: On Saturday morning, I decided to give Little Dude some scrambled eggs for breakfast. He didn't eat too many of them which is weird for him. He is usually like a little bird with his mouth open & waiting for food. After he finished, the daddy sat on the floor to play with him while I went to finish getting ready for the day. After a few minutes, I heard the daddy yelling out for me. Little Dude had hives all over his face and they were spreading down his neck. Turns out he is allergic to eggs. We called the doctor & gave him some Benadryl. He is fine and hasn't had any other reaction. The doctor said he can't have plain eggs, but can have things where eggs are cooked into them. We are following up with an allergist next week.

First time swimming: I took Little Dude swimming today. From the moment he went into the water, he had a big smile on his face. He LOVES swimming. He was splashing so much and enjoyed playing in the pool for quite a while today. Here is a picture of him in his floatie toy.
