Getting better!

Even when Little Dude is sick, he is still a great baby. We had to go back to the doctor yesterday because of how bad Monday night was. It ended up that an ear infection formed from the time we were at the doctor on Monday and when we went back on Tuesday morning. Thankfully we have meds for that and he seems to be feeling much better!

Here is a short video of him making one of his favorite noises. He was watching himself on the computer while he did it. You can see how amused he is with himself. Such a silly little guy.

8 months & a sick day

Little Dude turned 8 months old on Saturday! We went out for sushi with friends & he was a big hit. The owner of the restaurant kept coming over to talk to him. Little Dude was great at dinner, as usual. However, things took a turn for the worse once we got home.

We thought at first that Little Dude was teething because he has had excessive amounts of drool and chews on EVERYTHING. Then his nose started running & a fever creeped in. This morning, he had a fever of 101.3. A trip to the doctor was a must. I got up early & took him to the doctor as soon as they opened. They tested him for flu and strep throat which both came back negative. Then they did a blood test to determine if it was a bacterial infection or viral infection. Results came back that it is a viral infection. So today we are having lots of hugs and cuddles since there isn't much else we can do to help other than give him Tylenol for the fever. Hopefully he will get better soon. I really wish I could be the one who is sick instead of him. It isn't fair for my sweet little guy to feel so bad!

New Toys

I apologize for not blogging sooner, but a certain someone keeps me on my toes & very busy these days! He is crawling everywhere (and I do mean EVERY where). One of his favorite past-times is chasing the dog and cat around the house. They are going to looove when he is able to run after them.

In an attempt to keep Little Dude from getting into things he wasn't supposed to, I used a laundry basket as a barricade. It is now a favorite toy of his. What could be better than a drum/pull up bar/push toy?

I'm sure you love seeing the cute pictures of Little Dude much better, but I have to show off MY new toy! I got a shiny new car. It's my first *new* car ever. Very excited about this. Little Dude also got to upgrade to his new carseat when we got this, so he is really riding in style now.
New toys are so much fun!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I tried to get pictures of Little Dude today in his cute "Kiss Me I'm Irish" shirt. He didn't want to cooperate. Every time I set him on the backdrop and grabbed my camera, he was headed for the other room. These are some of the few ones I was able to get of him! I'm going to need an assistant to be able to get pictures of him from now on it seems.

In our household, we don't like to take on one task at a time. We also don't like to do the same thing over and over again. We are big on learning new things all the time. Or so I've gathered from Little Dude. Look what new trick he has already learned! Didn't he JUST start crawling everywhere??
He is pulling up on his toys and pretty much anything else he can get his hands on. He is so very proud of himself. My little guy is getting so big!

Fun!

We've had such a fun Friday here at our house. Little Dude and I spent the morning playing outside. Then we came indoors and played some more. Here are a few pictures from today!

Here is Little Dude playing outside.
He was showing me his toy.
We like to play with everything...including socks. But before you can play with them, they must go through rigorous tests to see if they are a high enough quality to be considered a toy. You have to sniff them first...
Then listen to them to make sure there's nothing inside....
And finally, a taste test will determine if the sock is up to our fine standards of being considered a toy or not.
I am pleased to say the sock passed our tests with flying colors. Little Dude amused himself with the socks for at least 15 minutes before I took them away. (I know, that was so mean of me to take away such a fun toy)

You know how I've mentioned that Little Dude is crawling everywhere? He has now decided that crawling isn't enough and he needs to learn to do other things. I can't decide if he is about to run a race or tackle someone in football.

Full speed ahead

Crawling... could possibly be overrated.

Don't get me wrong. I love that Little Dude is growing and changing. I love that he finds his way around the house and goes to get whatever toy he wants. I love that he is becoming independent and strong. I love that he is exploring the world around him. I love that he crawls over to me just to get in my lap.

In addition to those things, here are a few other things I love:
Covers for surge protectors.
Outlet covers.
The bumper on our coffee table.
The ability to lower the crib.

I will simply say it is busy at our house now that he is crawling full speed ahead!

New Trick

Little Dude learned a new trick today. I discovered this new trick when I went to go get him up from a nap.... The first picture is what I saw when I first walked in. Then he decided to show me exactly what he could do.

He can now go from laying/crawling/rolling around to sitting. This could be problematic since his crib hasn't been lowered. I guess I know what the daddy will be doing when he gets home from work tonight! And of course playing in the crib is fun, but pulling on the mobile is much more fun!

This sweet little guy is becoming quite the handful! However, I wouldn't trade him for the world.

Expect the Unexpected

You know those weeks where it feels like everything unexpected happens & everything you expect to happen doesn't? It's been one of those weeks here at our house. I'll only share a few highlights.

The first incident was on Saturday night. We went out for dinner with Little Dude, his little girlfriend & little girlfriend's parents. Little Dude was wide awake during dinner and was quite obviously enjoying the attention from anyone who glanced his way. He was having a little party for himself and continued the party until 10pm. "Hm.." I thought, "Surely he will sleep great since he is up so late!" Oh I couldn't be more wrong. He was up probably 6 times that night compared to the ONE time of every other night. I will simply state that I was a very tired mommy on Sunday.

Fast forward a few hours on Sunday. Little Dude didn't nap at all.... AT ALL... from 12pm until 6:30pm. So now not only am I very tired but I am also getting to that point where you know you're about to break. He finally naps, but didn't nap long & woke up horribly cranky. We were over at his Nana & Popper's house and he was not being his normal happy self. I fed him dinner then brought him home to put to bed. I was bracing myself. I knew it was going to be an awful night. You can ask the daddy and he will probably very quickly vouch that I was very (VERY) grumpy after Little Dude went to bed. Lo and behold, my sweet love slept all night and was great!

On Monday evening, the daddy said we needed to trim the dog's nails. This is a two person job because she hates it. I have the job of holding her while he clips the nails. We began the task and she was squirming. On one of the last nails, she jerked really fast while the daddy was in mid-clip. No biggie, he finished cutting the nails and she jumped off the couch. I was working on some of my photography business so I wasn't paying much attention to her. She kept licking herself (I assumed her bum since this is a favorite past-time of hers). I got onto her for licking and she walked away. (Can you guess where this is going??) I finished up my photo stuff and went to go see what the daddy was doing upstairs....

I walk by the sunroom and see blood everywhere. I look over on the area rug and it looks like someone was murdered on our living room floor. Turns out the dog wasn't licking her bum after all. She had decided that we didn't trim that nail I was talking about earlier short enough so she chewed it nearly completely off. Brilliance. This lead to her bleeding excessively. Seriously, I never knew that one nail could cause that much blood. The daddy came down & researched how to stop the bleeding (cornstarch then pressure with a towel), clean it (antibacterial soap, luke warm water) and how to care for it (wrap in gauze then put a sock over it). Then we had to get the blood out of the carpet (hydrogen peroxide).

I will say it has been a big pile of awesome over here at our house this week. So if you want some excitement, you know where to find it!

Thankfully yesterday was a nice relaxing day which included a playdate with little girlfriend. And today we went out to Grammy & Grampa's for a visit since Grammy's birthday is tomorrow. It was so nice having days where unexpected things didn't pop up out of nowhere.
